College of Graduate Studies at California Northstate University Partnership Agreement

New pathway articulation agreement enriches international MD program opportunities for Californians.

GUS Medical Schools – Saba University School of Medicine, Medical University of the Americas and St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine – are pleased to highlight our new articulation agreement with the College of Graduate Studies at California Northstate University (CNUCGS). This collaboration will benefit students in the Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences Program (MPS) who aspire to become practicing physicians and healthcare professionals, by enhancing their opportunities to gain admittance to an international Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.

CNUMPS graduates who meet the pathway requirements, including achieving an overall minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.8 or an overall cumulative MPS GPA of 3.0 (or higher) and a minimum MCAT score of 492, will receive several benefits. These include a guaranteed admissions interview, an expedited application process and a $10,000 USD partnership scholarship for eligible applicants. This, in combination with eligibility for existing grants/scholarships and government financial aid opportunities, helps ensure that a robust MD program education is affordable and a career as a practicing medical doctor is within reach for those who are passionate about care.

“The Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences Program at California Northstate University is committed to preparing next generation physician-scholars through innovation and collaboration,” said Ahmed El-Shamy, DVM., PhD, Assistant Dean of Research and Director of the Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences Program at CNUCGS. “Our partnership with GUS Medical Schools connects our students with diverse perspectives, innovative medical education, cutting-edge research and world-renowned expertise, empowering them to become leaders in the healthcare profession”

“This collaboration will benefit students in the Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences Program (MPS) who aspire to become practicing physicians by granting them an expedited application review, unique scholarship opportunities and a dedicated admissions’ counselor to assist with the enrollment process into any one of the three GUS Medical Schools,” said Jeffrey Bates, Vice President of Field Recruitment and Business Development. “Sharing the belief that there needs to be more patient centered physicians, I am thrilled to be partnering with the MPS program, as I know they are dedicated to preparing their students to not only achieve high academic standards, but become the type of physicians the world needs.”

GUS Medical Schools offer education and hands-on training that help aspiring physicians achieve academic and long-term career success. Our rigorous MD program curriculums, student support services and committed faculty teams consistently prepare students to become practicing physicians in the U.S., Canada and around the world. Attendees spend the first half of their MD programs on one of our island campuses for Basic Sciences (on Saba, Nevis or Grand Cayman), and the second half at affiliated training hospitals and learning centers in the U.S. or Canada (clinical rotations). Throughout their educational journeys, our students are always more than a number; we are committed to ensuring each person receives the individualized support they need to make the most of every opportunity!
