Jomi H. Alcon, MD, has had 30 years of experience lecturing in the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Physical and Occupational Therapy. She has also undergone residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy and practiced as an internist and gastroenterologist for two decades before focusing on being a medical educator. Dr. Alcon has also studied Educational Management and Asian Health Practices in graduate school.
Dr. Alcon is a fellow, frequent convention speaker and past president of the Philippine Society of Physiologists Inc. She is also a life fellow of the Philippine Society of Gastroenterology and Philippine Society of Digestive Endoscopy where she was previously chairman of the Training Program Accreditation Committee. She is also a member of the Hepatology Society of the Philippines and has been part of the annual convention committee of the society. Dr Alcon has also given digestive module lectures for the Philippine College of Gerontology and Geriatrics Inc.
As part of her academic work, Dr. Alcon has been a member of the Annual Research Forum Committee, Research Institute for Health Science in the UERMMMCI College of Medicine, student research content adviser and for many years has also been a content judge at the Annual Student Research Forum. She has also served as chairman of the Committee on Scholarships and Academic Honors, UERMMMCI College of Medicine for several years previously.
